More than 8,000 patients have been treated at UK-Med’s field hospital in Gaza, funded by UK Aid, since March.

This includes a high proportion of children, as well as evacuees from the north.

Today, the Royal Air Force participated in the largest international airdrop of aid into Gaza since the conflict began.

The UK has dropped over 53 tonnes of aid into Gaza, as we ramp up deliveries by land, sea and air.

Led by our Jordanian partners, we have joined nations around the world to mark the end of Ramadan by getting 10 tonnes of aid into Gaza by air.

This is the sixth RAF drop in recent weeks.

The UK will continue to play its part in getting supplies into Gaza by land, air and sea, but we continue to push Israel as hard as we can to get more aid across the border.

Aid workers should never be targeted.

Those doing life-saving work in Gaza must be protected and allowed full, unhindered access to conduct their work safely.

We must see an immediate cessation of hostilities to get aid in and hostages out, leading to a sustainable ceasefire.

Lessons must be learnt from today’s initial findings from the IDF.

It’s clear major reform of Israel’s deconfliction mechanism is badly needed to ensure the safety of aid workers.

The deaths of these brave heroes are a tragedy, and this must never happen again.
