The UK is working with international partners to:

➡️ Urgently secure an immediate pause in the fighting in Gaza
➡️ Get aid in and the hostages out
➡️ Then work for a sustainable, permanent ceasefire without a return to fighting and loss of life

There should be no nuclear weapons stationed in space.

Today Russia vetoed a draft Security Council resolution seeking to prevent just that.

The UK voted in favour with 12 other Council members.

China abstained.

Yesterday Danai Gurira spoke powerfully at the United Nations Security Council about the sexual violence occuring in camps for internally displaced people, where she reported 80 cents 'will buy you a child to rape.'

The humanitarian situation in the DRC is getting worse.

7 million people are internally displaced and sexual violence is widespread in camps.

We've committed $126 million in aid to eastern DRC but we must make every effort to bring the parties back to a political process.

“When was the last time you handled 80 cents?”

That is the price to rape a child in internally displaced people camps in eastern DRC.

We continue to support the Multinational Security Support Mission and reiterate our pledge of over $6 million to this effort.

The UK set the most ambitious target to cut carbon emissions by 68% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and is the only major economy to set a target of 77% for 2035.

Tech and collaboration will be key to reaching these targets – we'll work closely with United Nations partners to get there.✊

Last night, the United Kingdom joined U.S. Mission to the UN and 47 other United Nations member states in condemning the Islamic Republic of Iran’s attack on the State of Israel:

I met Palestinian Authority PM Mohammad Mustafa to reiterate UK support as his government takes much needed steps on reform, and our shared commitment to a two-state solution.
