Some exciting news! Kate Mathers, Paul Wood, and I have an CENTA rep placement for an undergraduate to observe the ecological recovery of macroinvertebrate communities in agricultural sediment ponds with Loughborough Geography and Environment. For more info see the link: centa.ac.uk/centa-research…
Brilliant week planning exciting fine sediment & invert experiments for next year at Fondazione Edmund Mach fersina flumes for #UKRIFLF #flumefriday Also managed to recharge my alpine batteries! 🇮🇹😀
Last call to apply for a CENTA Research Placement with me, Kate Mathers & Paul Wood. It will involve sampling #sediment #ponds & to see invertebrate recovery after sedimentation. Deadline is 21st May - contact me on [email protected] or apply here centa.ac.uk/centa-research…
Finishing round 2 of macroinvertebrate ID from Kate Mathers flume experiments means some fun bugs in the Loughborough Geography and Environment Ecology Lab! 🪲🦐
A great time presenting at #2024SFS showcasing my work on the ecological responses to river restoration in the UK. Thank you to SFS Students Freshwater Science for allowing me to share my work with your members #rivers #restoration #ecology #freshwater
Awesome to present my PhD research on #sediment #ponds and their #biodiversity value within an #agricultural landscape #sfs24 Freshwater Science. If anyone missed or have an additional questions come find me or drop me a message! 🪲
The aftermath of huge sediment pollution events in the R. Glaven (N. Norfolk) in winter is a mass smothering of its gravels & banks making if look estuarine. Environment Agency must ensure compensation from VolkerFitzpatrick for major errors. Not sure river can recover. Heartbreaking.
Narrow clawed crayfish invasions are likely to spread across most of Europe but some range contractions in areas experiencing high future temps. Lovely paper led bh MSc student/incoming Faculty of Biological Sciences PhD James Hodson, with Simone Guareschi & Tomasso link.springer.com/article/10.100…
New paper alert. Going to the archives: Combining palaeoecological and contemporary data to support river restoration appraisals Thanks to James White for leading this and all co-authors Kate Mathers freshwaterflows Molly Bridger, Paul Wood and Emma seddon onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
