The myth that we are "100% responsible" for things we feel & experience is mostly perpetuated by people who want to make us feel shamed & responsible for things they actually did to us-- or people who are scared of the idea of something happening to them that they can't control.

You can let yourself off the hook for struggling to manage flashbacks. Literally every survivor struggles w/ them. No one in the history of PTSD has run up against a flashback & thought, "Hm, what a minor inconvenience, lucky I can easily handle this w/ minimum effort & support."
