The Portland Public Schools Lent K-8 3rd Grade Scholars participated in the The Vanport Mosaic Black Panther Party Legacy Tour of Albina w/ Mr. Kent Ford. Before, youth led a teach in on what they had learned about the BPP over the year for our comrades joining us.
The Chess For Success Portland Public Schools Lent K-8 Leopards Chess Club represented on short notice- 5 youth & a PPS Kellogg Middle School elder competed in the Rose City Chess OSCF Halloween tournament. A Leopard took 1st in his division!
As always, ❤️ & appreciation to KMHD Jazz Radio 89.1’s #dereksmithdoesntdosocialmedia as that Message From a Black Man instrumental was the absolute perfect backdrop to Portland Public Schools Lent K-8 1st graders stating their thoughts on a Multnomah County Library Dr. King book we read for 4/4/68.
On March 18 the Portland Public Schools Lent K-8 Leopards Chess Club placed 2nd at Chess For Success’s regional after a close battle. 2018 was the last time we finished 2nd in the region, and our youth were again resilient warriors w/ the ongoing changes to our community.
I was surprised to see/hear Lewis & Clark College’s land acknowledgement both directly over a podium w/the L&C logo and referring to colonizers as ‘newcomers’ and genocide as ‘sacrifices’ at the Lewis & Clark Law School 2023 graduation. Please listen to the youth (especially those in your program)!
So grateful again to have Julia Brim-Edwards out here in deep SE supporting Lent K-8 & Marysville Portland Public Schools scholars! Yes- Principal Murray & these Lions have been wonderful in welcoming my beloved Leopards! 💕
This was such a beautiful & powerful event! ❤️ to pdxteachers & the community who continue to be actively engaged in creating schools where our youth will flourish!!!
Had a class meeting today after lunch to let 3rd grade Portland Public Schools scholars know the greatest Portland Trail Blazers was moving on to play w/ Giannis Antetokounmpo & the Milwaukee Bucks. We were definitely sad, and are also wishing Damian Lillard the absolute best! We appreciate you!!! 💕
Much appreciation to Teaching With Purpose & The Vanport Mosaic for powerful events this last weekend coinciding w/ the 57th anniversary of the Black Panther Party! These PortlandPublicSchool 3rd grade philosophers certainly have a lot to say & share on the subject 💕
I’m looking forward to Portland Public Schools board members DePassforPortland & Julia Brim-Edwards negotiating a fair contract at the table with pdxteachers. As you’ve seen, the Portland community is overwhelmingly behind a just contract for our students & families!
Proud to be supporting Mike Schmidt for re-election! Multnomah County should be on track for rehabilitation and restorative justice that keeps our communities safe. Mike has delivered on that. youtu.be/F5QSgSEZrjA?si…
We believe you, Rep. Travis E. Nelson 🩺, because you have shown up with actions. As we know, the community notices such things. 💙
Much appreciation to Jamie Partridge & KBOO 📻 for covering pdxteachers as the community shows up for proper schools for our Portland Public Schools youth! 💙
