My press secretary Tyrone passed away from cancer in 2018 but his family is making sure his legacy lives on in the next generation of leaders. If you can, give to his scholar program to ensure young Black Americans can get involved & thrive in politics. gofundme.com/f/tyrone-gayle…

The time for change is now. Change in the name of George Floyd. Change in the name of Ahmaud Arbery. Change in the name of Breonna Taylor. And change in the name of the countless other Black Americans who have died at the hands of hatred and racism.

Question for the Twitter-verse: Are you writing things like "We were going to do this experiment but then COVID happened" in your grant proposals? Seems like a reasonable way to address gaps but is it weird to explicitly state? #SciTwitter #AcademicChatter @NIAIDFunding

Working to end food insecurity in the U.S. should not be a partisan issue. Making sure kids have enough food to be healthy should not be a partisan issue. Temporarily increasing SNAP benefit amounts during this ongoing crisis should not be a partisan issue.

This was misleading & confusing from World Health Organization (WHO). What we know: people are contagious before they exhibit symptoms. Some estimate 40% of transmission occurs from people who do not have symptoms at time of exposure. Asymptomatic transmission is what makes #covid19 so hard to contain.

Question for non-Black academics: what is the line item you are willing to give up so that we can fund racial equity initiatives robustly even in a recession?

To avert a devastating second wave: "All available evidence points in one direction — that people & governments should be as relentless as the virus... ...Ultimately, the battle against #covid19 depends on choices we make." Washington Post Opinions washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-dev…
