So easy to criticise social workers, but the real issue is years of underfunded and underinvested services, social work vacancies and burn out. This week I left the LA I had been working in for 20 years as I realise I was becoming part of a problem that feels impossible to solve

and closing sure start centres, who were so good at guiding parents through the hard parts

Having done a days work I ended up driving 400 mile round trip just to place a young person who was another sws case… I got home 06:10 the next morning: some of us would go to the ends of the world for kids
