"Exceptionally rare for archaeology of this date." Excavations of the 8th-century monastery at Cookham reveal more of Anglo-Saxon life and death. Along with staff and students Uni of Reading archaeologists are working on land beside Holy Trinity Church, until the end of August.

Madingley Hall, Harlaxton Medieval Symposium's new home is certainly very beautiful (but needs a better bus service). Some fascinating papers on the first day - including the dramatic tale of the nuns of Dartford (once home of Bridget of York) after the Dissolution.

On the anniversary of the discovery of two skeletons at the Tower of London, which at the time were believed to be those of the Princes in the Tower, listen to me and Tracy Borman OBE discuss with Charles Farris the events surrounding their disappearance and its ongoing legacy.

It’s much easier to build strong children than to fix broken adults. Child poverty is a scar on our society. Not only does it harm our children’s life chances, it damages our country - its safety, its economy and its reputation - as a whole.

All My Worldly Joy will be published just in time for Mothers' Day. Not only that, but Unbound has decided my book will go into US and international distribution. I didn't expect this at all. It's a great compliment from people whose judgement I respect and I'm thrilled.(1/2)

Just reposting this Richard III Society memorial for Margaret of Burgundy because it's in Mechelen (not Bruges). That's what comes of waiting til I get home from holiday before sharing these images. Mechelen is, by the way, beautiful and much less busy than Bruges!

Not many of the house of York's homes look in such good condition (I suspect it looks less medieval inside). This is Margaret duchess of Burgundy's home in Mechelen.

Now that the contract has been signed, I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be (finally) publishing a monograph on St George's College and Chapel, Windsor Castle, in the late medieval period! Really excited to finally get this out in the world!
