My first PhD paper is out in mBio !(tinyurl.com/h83mh8vy) Oral bacteria often form mixed species biofilms where aggregation drives interspecies interactions. But how do they bind to each other? Here, we investigated Veillonella parvula aggregation with other bacteria . [1/6]

My road in academia has been bumpy, & I take responsibility for that. Still, as retirement looms, I am reflective. So much left undone. Yet I received this in the mail yesterday. No, not every #DocMartian stays in touch. But I received this yesterday. Thank you, Ruth 룻 Isenberg, PhD

Published just in time for the holidays! I learned so much while writing about the past, present, and future of E. faecalis research with Gary. Check it out! 🦠🧫🧪🔬 journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mm…

Ten species comprise half of the bacteriology literature, leaving most species unstudied bioRxiv Microbiology by Paul A Jensen biorxiv.org/content/10.110… B. subtilis is #6 😍, anyhow, the literature is biased to models Would publications on plants or animals be similarly biased?

Absolutely bonkers that the Palisades and Altadena are basically gone and they're running out of water and the NFL is just like "we'll move the game if needed" ...like why would you even consider asking people to come into LA right now to watch SPORTS

I'm excited to announce our latest publication! We teamed up with Karthik Hullahalli to barcode Klebsiella and ask basic questions about bacteremia pathogenesis: 1) how are bacteria shared between sites and 2) which host and bacterial factors influence dynamics? nature.com/articles/s4146…

🚨Apparently all NIH Study Sections have been suspended indefinitely. For those who don’t know, this means there won’t be any review of grants submitted to NIH Depending on how long this goes on for, this could lead to an interruption in billions in research funding.

Julia Willett (@jlewillett) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Since the advisory council for my grant got shut down this week and the government is destroying critical health/biomedical research and training programs I'm gonna need some billionaires to step up here...Taylor Swift fund my lab please 🙏🙏

Drug Monkey (@drugmonkeyblog) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Personally, I do not believe science trainees want to hear gaslighting about how everything will be fine with the NIH. Things are going to be very much not fine for a lot of people. PIs who are fortunate enough to have resources should be ready to rescue individuals.
