When I worked for Tom Duane, Dems were in the minority and so we had a small budget with limited staff, and still we answered every phone call 10am-6pm, responded to every voicemail, and took walk-ins. Wild how many offices with far more staff do none of the above.

One thing that's truly absurd about incarceration in NY (and probably most states) is that even after locking people in cages for decades, the state apparently can't confirm their identities and provide non-driver IDs before release. No ID = no bank account, no SNAP, and more.

Trump's fascist DHS smeared and jailed a relative of his own press secretary who got DACA and was on her way to getting a green card (and though it shouldn't matter, apparently never got this misdemeanor conviction). Would be curious to hear Leavitt's response to this.

Prison sentence lengths say more about a person's identity and the county in which they were prosecuted than they do about the person's conduct.
