Why won’t I just stay in my lane, stop talking about our school system and get on with treating mental health problems? Because every day I hear about practices in schools which cause distress - and I’m being asked to resolve the distress as if it, not the practice, is the

As school begins in England, periodic reminder that schools which choose to reward 100% attendance without equally rewarding disabled children who cannot achieve this for disability related reasons may well be breaching the Equality Act and the Human Rights Act

So Bridget Phillipson the SEN transport to the ONLY school that can meet my daughters specific care needs is refused. So now she won’t be educated she will not fulfil her promise & go on benefits Then at 18 she will be asked “why on benefits? Get a job!” 👉Cause & effect👈

How many year 7s (underdeveloped executive functioning) have been given detention for being late this week that simply got lost? Because if we are so prescriptive about “high standards” we have no choice right? This is where “no excuses” is so flawed How many children who …

Just a MASSIVE shout out to our City Year UK mentors. Only a week in and they’re making a huge difference to the most vulnerable pupils in Trafford 👏

No matter your views on her stated reasons for quitting, Rosie Duffield has made a political career out of dehumanising one of the most marginalised groups in society. She should never have been allowed the privilege of resigning. Labour should have withdrawn the whip long ago.

The huge rise in applications for EHCPs (Education, Health & Care plans) will continue until we find the courage for a root & branch rethink about our whole approach to children’s education - one driven by what we now understand about neuroscience & neurodiversity! BBC Radio 4 Today

Ofsted 'will grade pupil attendance for the first time' in school ratings revamp following headteacher's suicide | Daily Mail Online So more bias against schools serving deprived areas Honestly I despair at who on earth is advising ⁦Bridget Phillipson⁩ dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Jacqui Preston (she/her) (@jacqui_deputy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is ridiculous and local authorities need to be held to account. Often schools are named on EHCPs and can’t meet need, so clearly not the school’s fault.

Managing pupil absence should not be the requirement of a school. It should be the responsibility of the Local Authority. Measuring a school on something it has very little control over is just going to cause more people to call for the abolition of Ofsted 🤷

A lot of these #edulads happen to be lashing out on women who disagree with them. Education isn’t about power, it’s about understanding and being there for the young people we support.

Success in education is not just about grades. It is seen in the quiet child who finds their voice, the struggling pupil who keeps going, and the teacher who rediscovers their passion. These are the real achievements of a school.

MPs have heard concerns from Margaret Mulholland (mmulholland.bsky.social) that a new focus on inclusion through Ofsted will not include an assessment of how representative a school’s intake is of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the local area. tes.com/magazine/news/…

I know I say this every year, but with results day on the horizon, please remember that for some kids grade 1-3 is a huge achievement. It represents years of hard work and determination. It’s not a fail. It is a GCSE qualification that they can and should be celebrated for.

tes.com/magazine/news/… Tom Bennett says strict rules ‘dovetail perfectly’ with inclusion. Tell that to the SEND kids disproportionately excluded under these regimes. Orderly ≠ inclusive
