Today we introduce a new drug candidate for prion disease: a PrP-lowering divalent siRNA. A 4-year collaboration with RNA Therapeutics Institute enabled by NINDSfunding IGNITE & URGenT mechanisms. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Our hope is to advance this to the clinic, wish us luck!

The authors show data indicating that soil extracts contain boba fide prion infectivity following inoculation into transgenic mice. IMO, this is some of the strongest evidence to date for environmental prions.
