On Boris Johnson: "You could be a political vandal, an economic bulldozer and a class bully, and still the press would praise you as statesmanlike..." Excellent thought-provoking piece by Aditya Chakrabortty in Guardian news.

Who can blame @ChistiesBar for being livid? Once again it raises the question: who is Harrogate BID accountable to? Or does it just do exactly as it pleases? (BTW: the organisation is so sensitive to criticism that it continues to "block" me.)

This looks like yet another example of alleged financial mismanagement by Harrogate Borough Council. Remember the new council offices which HBC Leader Kim-Jong Cooper told us would cost £8m - and ended up costing almost twice that. Of course, no-one was held to account.

Good old dog mess. When a local news organisation has completely run out of ideas of what to write about, thank goodness there's this perennial poo problem to get stuck into .....(so to speak)!

And this most certainly includes you Harrogate Advertiser. Why do you keep offering a monthly column to #Harrogate's @AJonesMP to spout insipid comments on whatever theme he chooses? Why are you so reluctant to challenge him? After all, he's supposed to represent us - not himself!

🔴 Sue Gray's Inquiry: The Great Charade Exposing Our Failing Democracy The notion that a civil servant working within the structure she is tasked with scrutinising can get to the truth of the #DowningStreetParties is an affront, says Brian Cathcart bylinetimes.com/2022/01/24/sue…

Of course, Harrogate BID won't see this question I've raised as the organisation decided some time ago to "block" me on Twitter. But that in itself provides an interesting insight into the way this arrogant & arguably, ineffective body deals with probing questions and criticism.

Even top Tories including the party's former leader in Scotland, Ruth Davidson are now openly expressing their incredulity at Boris Johnson's conduct & hypocrisy. It's quite unthinkable that this man should be allowed to remain in office any longer.

Private Eye's Ian Hislop tells the standards committee that MPs who accept second jobs should publish discussions/minutes of meetings with companies so that why they MPs doing what they're doing is open to scrutiny. "The public are fed up of being taken for fools."

Last night’s #TheApprentice seemed to be all at sea with an over-complicated, three-way task. A bit fishy not to base the whole programme in #Cornwall. Why organize the (very contrived) pitch to the two prestigious London hotels? That struck me as being a complete red herring!

Further evidence (if it were needed) that Harrogate Borough Council Leader, Richard "Kim Jong" Cooper has completely lost the plot. A council officer posts abusive tweets about a councillor - and Cooper suggests it's the councillor who should apologize. Unbelievable!

Surely we're not STILL talking about splashing out £49 million redeveloping Harrogate Convention Centre? @HarrogateBC's useless councillors had the opportunity to invest heavily in the town's prime asset years & years ago - but failed to. To do so now would be a complete waste of money.

Good grief @skynews. What's happened to your dress code standards? I've just watched your deputy political editor Sam Coates Sky being interviewed from home and he looked like he'd just got out of bed - in dishevelled jumper & teeshirt. What next week? Still in his pyjamas?
