One of the lovely things on google books is having access not only to pretty much any 16th-century text but also finding the annotations of previous owners -- and in this case quite a famous humanist. google.co.uk/books/edition/…

*An exception for the books they've digitized with Google Books. Those you can browse from the comfort of your own home wearing as much or little clothing as you wish 😉

These lovely engravings of birds of prey are from La Fauconnerie, printed in Paris in 1605 (BL 1040.c.6.(1.)).

Freely available on the Library's Universal Viewer or Google Books!

Petrus Hortensius is probably Peter van den Hove. He owned this Greek book on church history. In 1599, he was 'baryphonus' of St Gudula's cathedral in Brussels. Google helpfully translates this as 'baryphone'. Was he the organist?

I love Google Books! I type in John Rowe's Diary, the Boston merchant, and there it is at my finger tips albeit with edits from his GGG niece circa 1903.

I've been having a lot of fun messing around with the Google Books Ngram Viewer. Kind of like Google trends but it's looking specifically at books. Below are uses of the word 'nuclear' in English vs. Russian books. Pretty neat! 🤓 books.google.com/ngrams/
