There's nothing like sitting on the couch reading a book for historical research and you look up to see that one of your favorite 1980s movies is on TV--The Lost Boys. Well, there goes two hours of research time!!

I've never posted any of the great Amazon reviews I've received for my novel about Nathanael Greene 'The Line of Splendor' but this one is worth a share. I accomplished my goal of writing a biographical novel about Greene—that showed he was a man and not just a major general.

Nathanael Greene owned over 7000 acres on Cumberland Island and a house at Dungeness. He hoped that he could start a lumber business and trade with France using these huge live oaks to get out from under his crushing debt. He also hoped to move his family there but died in 1786.

Nathanael Greene wasn't given command of the Rhode Island Army of Observation until May 8, 1775. It took him time to organize his army, so he didn't arrive in Massachusetts until May 23. He encamped in Roxbury & reported to General Artemus Ward, who put him under Gen John Thomas.

As of today, I've lived in my house for 25 years. It might not look like much to you, but this is my view from my writing office window where I've written novels, short stories, articles, and blog posts. Just beyond the trees, the skyline of Austin, TX, looms over Lady Bird Lake.
