Illegal arms & drugs pouring into Haiti by sea are fueling violence & instability. With support from Global Affairs Canada, we’re training the Haitian Coast Guard to board vessels, disrupt trafficking & fight organized crime. This will help strengthen maritime & regional security.

I was humbled to deliver the United Nations Secretary-General’s message at a ceremony commemorating the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It is our shared responsibility to never forget and to never again allow such horrors to unfold. unis.unvienna.org/unis/en/pressr…

I’m saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis Apostolica Sedes Vacans. He was a steadfast advocate for the most vulnerable & those affected by conflict & inequality around the world. May his message of peace, unity & hope continue to inspire courage when it is needed most.

Encouraged to see UN Office on Drugs & Crime training making a difference on the ground. With our support, Liberia’s Drug Enforcement Agency intercepted a major drug shipment worth over $77,000 - a clear sign that investing in national capacities can help tackle drug trafficking & organized crime.

Impressive work by Anti Narcotics Force, seizing 2.6 tons of opium disguised as raisins in a shipment from Afghanistan to Canada. We must remain vigilant as Afghan opiates continue to make their way to global markets. Sustained support by UN Office on Drugs & Crime and donors is key to addressing this threat.

Proud that UN Office on Drugs & Crime assisted Paraguay with scientific expertise & training to safely dispose of 2,200+kg of chemicals used to produce cocaine, amphetamine & MDMA. With support of US Dept of State INL, such efforts contribute to public health, security & the fight against drug trafficking.

🚨 UNODC in 60 Seconds 🔹 Southeast Asia: new UNODC report on cyber fraud networks expanding globally. 🔹 Pakistan: 2.6 tons of opium disguised as raisins seized en route to Canada. 🔹 Paraguay: 2,200+ kg of sulfuric acid safely disposed, with support from US Dept of State INL … and more!
