This year, FSD, in collaboration with local communities & authorities, has planted over 900 trees in #Tajikistan. This effort is part of a broader #environmental remediation project to prevent soil erosion, reduce pesticide contamination spread by wind, and enhance biodiversity.

We are pleased to announce that the 🇬🇧 Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office will support our #mineaction programme in #Tajikistan. Through risk education and land release activities, FSD will contribute to mitigate the socio-economic impact of explosive devices along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.

Despite July's hot weather, FSD's teams in #Iraq continued to carry out their #mineaction efforts. In #Iraq, the intense heat is a challenge for our #deminers, with temperatures reaching up to 50°C. During this period, FSD adjusts the deminers' schedules, starting earlier, reducing time outside in the sun once it gets to 43-44°C & pausing operations as soon as it gets to 47°C.

On 15 August, FSD participated in the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Mechanism on Normalization (#ICCMN) Caravan to support the ongoing #peace process in the Bangsamoro, #Philippines. Over 500 participants, including former combatants & their families, benefited from FSD's #EORE sessions.

FSD has started new battle area #clearance operations along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. Over the next month, our #deminers will be working to clear the 120,000 m2 of contaminated land so that local communities can safely resume their #livelihood activities in the region.

In #Ukraine, FSD's teams ensure that children are made aware of the risks of explosive devices from an early age. In schools, the sessions delivered are adapted to the young age of the participants: plays, songs & cartoons are used to ensure they remember the key safety messages.

Today, Angela De Santis, FSD's Deputy Head of Operations, took part in the Convention on #CCW Protocol V Experts Meeting. She presented FSD's programme in #Afghanistan, emphasizing the effort to transition individuals from victim to survivor & the challenges of #victimassistance.

🌅 The efforts of our teams to remove explosive devices have enabled residents to access and rebuild vital infrastructure in the village of Sultan Abdullah, #Iraq, including water and electricity systems. #Children can once again play and move around in a safe environment.

Five years ago, on 3rd September 2019, our dear colleague and friend Brandon Pinson lost his life in a tragic accident in Iraq. Today, our thoughts are with Brandon, his family and all the deminers who have lost their lives fighting the scourge of explosive remnants of war.

In Mindanao, #Philippines, where contamination from explosive devices is widespread, FSD is providing risk #education sessions in villages and #schools.
