I'm getting lots of DM's & emails from teachers about Cdn math ed celebs selling math programs that don't work. So much $$ spent to the detriment of children & it's been going on for years. I'm not a journalist, though. I'll repeat this again: we need an Emily Hanford for math.

What an incredible weekend! My apologies for the giddiness and fan girling Anna Stokke @johnmighton Amanda VanDerHeyden but you’ve changed my practice for the better and as a result changed the trajectory of my students. Thanks for signing my books Daniel Willingham and Carl Hendrick

Reminder: There is no peer-reviewed paper on #BuildingThinkingClassrooms by Peter Liljedahl. And there isn't even a single non-reviewed paper on its effectiveness for learning. no paper => no research The research-based claim is fake.

Presenting here in FCPS-MD today on retrieval practice. Here is a 🧵on some of the insights I will be sharing. Very quickly we begin to forget new learning we are exposed to. When spaced out retrieval practice helps to slow the rate.

I woke up still buzzing from yesterday’s researchED Canada conference and my head is still trying to process all of the information I learned (felt a bit of cognitive overload so will review my notes and quiz myself today😉) Here are 5 of my main takeaways: ✅it’s important for
