.Maternity Safety Alliance, which I am part of, are calling for a statutory public inquiry into maternity services. Here is why 👇 And some more details here if you're interested x.com/catherineroyuk… Thank you Clare Wilson for explaining the issues.

Worse than Royal College of Midwives 💙's IF apology is no apology. RoyalCollegeObsGyn has not apologised for its 20% #caesarean rate recs in 2012. Tweet below suggests a 2007 problem; that it merely (and "mistakenly") gave an "impression" to prioritise targets. Its 2018 report praised SaTH's low CBs

Care Quality Commission Did anyone consider that many of those families who shared their experiences are bereaved and that the image of a baby crawling away would be triggering ?

Remembered this morning the Coroner's officer who called me out of the blue to say she'd no longer be attending Abigail's inquest because she was pregnant & didn't want to upset me - "& actually it would be pretty hard for me too" 🤯

Not sure I'll ever get used to the way memories of what happened to us disappear & then resurface. & there are so many things like this from organisations we've dealt with - carelessness, people centring themselves in the death of our daughter, it all compounds the trauma.

In my experience anything put in an email to Care Quality Commission is neatly filed in the bin. I encourage anyone experiencing issues/problems with CQC to say as much as they feel able to *in public*.

They seem to prefer keeping things quiet, probably to protect their reputation as a safe and effective regulator. But the truth is, this silence hides the real problems happening right under their nose

I wonder what has triggered this alert? Inappropriate use of oxytocin was highlighted in the Ockenden report, published in March 2022.

I have dangerous ideas, so dangerous that a group of midwives and health visitors were told they would be subject to disciplinary action if they listened to what I had to say about mental health and infant feeding Come find out more Academy of Ideas with Ella Whelan

People say to me ‘you’re so strong Sue. If I lost my child I couldn’t cope’ I’m not strong but I am still here. In the first few months I really thought I would die of a broken heart. And to be honest, I still think it’s possible. I miss my Owen SO much it hurts inside 💔

The Dudley Group Oh, and it would be nice to have the option of comforting my baby when crying, except I can’t because she’s dead thanks to your negligence & incompetence.

Emily Barley Ranee Thakar And work together is what RCOG, RCM and NCT did for many years. They had a common goal of reducing caesareans and promoting normal birth. Look where we are after they worked together.
