I do love that Trump can deny his own height and weight with as much rigour as he does accusations he rigged the most important election on the planet.

One for GDS. To process Tax Free Childcare many people need to provide the 'Business name' of the government account. It's not here but is 'Tax Free Childcare'. childcare.tax.service.gov.uk/par/acc/deposiโ€ฆ If you added it, you'd save a lot of people a lot of googling.

Media / politicians' commentary style Must say: Hamas evil; Israel right to defend itself Can say: Palestinians suffering (indirect language) Don't say: Israeli state is killing some Palestinians (direct language) Mustn't mention: Palestinians' historical/contemporary grievances

I remember the 'justified' and 'reasonable' calls for the Iraq war in 2003. But military actions have unintended consequences. I can't see an end game here that doesn't lead to more insecurity for Israel or anyone else. bbc.co.uk/news/world-midโ€ฆ

I worked in the UK foreign office. Felt pressure to promote 'Global Britain', Britain as a world leader at a load of things it isn't. But one thing I strongly believe. Britain has the best plugs. A real leader, mostly through the earth wire.

Killing large numbers of Palestinians harms global support for Israel. Over the long term, that's likely to decline further. Support is low in future world economic powers and young people in the West are increasingly critical of Israel. Best develop a less violent approach.

By 2050, with China & India leading the global economy & Western countries declining, sentiment towards Israel may wane. In 2013, 66% in China viewed Israel unfavorably. Meanwhile, 56% of young Americans too, mirroring trends in Europe & Canada. #Gaza #Israel #Palestine

An interesting analysis by RUSI's George Hancock on the spike in piracy around the Horn of Africa. With all the headlines around the US, Iran and the Houthis, it'd be easy to blow this out of proportion. But a return to the levels of piracy we saw a decade ago is highly unlikely.

I personally think the Islamists - ('the' because they're a coherent, card-carrying unit) - are responsible for ULEZ. A curious ideological shift to undermine the fabric of our society by cleaning up its air. inews.co.uk/news/politics/โ€ฆ

Changes to demographics and attitudes amongst young people in the West indicate support for Israel could be more of a liability than a plus for politicians. And, let's face it, that pretty much trumps everything for a lot of our politicians. rusi.org/explore-our-reโ€ฆ
