Pastoralism uses rangelands to benefit human and environmental health. With low reliance on external chemical inputs, it converts natural vegetation into healthy and nutritious food. → iyrp.info #IYRPforHealth #IYRP2026

Improving the Southern Rangelands offers private, public and global co-benefits as we arrest landscape degradation, improve biodiversity and produce low-impact red meat.

Degraded rangelands can be rehabilitated cost-effectively by empowering pastoralists´ stewardship in applying sustainable management practices that often include increasing the mobility of livestock. → iyrp.info #IYRPforNatureConservation #IYRP2026

There is a sense of urgency with the restoration of the Southern Rangelands landscape. No longer can it be pursued as a gentle hobby. We need to learn from our counterparts across Australia and explore the benefits of non native species in soil preservation!

We love our native grasses in the Southern Rangelands, but sometimes it’s hard for them to get a foothold in degraded soils.

There’s a little city happening here. It all starts with the soil as much for us as it does for these ants #southernrangelands #challastation #SRPA #soilsforlife #SaveSoil

Ripping the hard pan with the grader is going to make it much easier for the rain to penetrate and the plants to germinate here in the Southern Rangelands of WA #challastation #southernrangelands #SRPA #SRRP #SaveSoil #soilsforlife

Rain is never inconvenient in the Southern Rangelands. 34mm is enough to put a hold on mustering for a few days, but we'll happily deal with that. On top of the 80mm we had in late March, its a magnificent start!

These are some of the heifers selected for our first batch of ceres tags. We run 1000 breeders on 200000 hectares. We are set to learn a great deal about their habits very soon #southernrangelands #cerestags #agtech #challastation

Our HIR carbon project supported the acquisition of a finishing block almost a year ago. The first mob from this years muster arrived today ready to eat well and pack on the kilos.

It’s been a great start for Gingin growers and these lightweight Challa culls are quickly adapting to the green feed after having come off green feed at the station.

Livestock are seen as ‘villains’ of climate change. But this simplistic message hides a rich variety of ways to produce food around the world, in pastoral areas.
