I just signed a #StopRosebank petition tell the Norwegian Government Regjeringen to stop Equinor's Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK. Rosebank will be a climate & nature disaster. Help #StopRosebank by signing NOW: stopcambo.org.uk/p/norway?sourc…

From its fossil fuel-based fabrics to their coal-burning factories to gas-guzzling ships, Lulu is failing to deliver on its climate change promises. Join me and Action Speaks Louder in asking lululemon to shape up! speakslouder.org/petition/lulul…

On George Street, we see bus stops crammed onto narrow pavements - causing congestion like this when lots of people are queuing for buses 🚌 One elderly woman got trodden on in the melée today and was overheard saying ‘this is why I hate coming here’ 😢

Here we see another huge problem - there are no restrictions on delivery times in the town centre ❌ Lorries and vans can pull up, blocking the road & causing risks to pedestrians & cyclists, whenever they like 🚛 It is normal practice to restrict delivery times in other towns.

The sheer volume of vehicles is the root cause of the poor air quality reported by most respondents as their no.1 issue with the town centre 🚗 with walking/cycling experience in third place. We know from other data that 2/3s of traffic is passing through - not visiting Richmond

Indeed - look here at space allocation 👇 *Two* vehicle lanes down a side street, with tiny, narrow pavements for pedestrians and poor visibility as cars swing round the corner ❌

And here - Richmond Green, the ‘jewel’ in the town’s crown 🌳 But you can’t actually see most of the green, because the entire perimeter is one huge car park 🅿️ with cars endlessly circling for spaces 🤦‍♀️ Despite there being a massive car park a 5 min walk away on the A316…

It’s not surprising that 53% of respondents put ‘enhancing our public spaces’ as a top priority - they are in dire need of totally rethinking…

Major junctions like this are almost impossible for pedestrians & wheelchair users to cross safely - with cars and buses swinging round the corner at speed, not indicating correctly. You see parents grabbing children to sprint across the junction - madness in our town centre 😮

Why should customers bail out water companies for their mistakes? THEY built up £60 billion in debt rewarding banks and investors, and now want us to fix their problem. Sign the petition and tell Ofwat: no bill hikes to bail them out. 38d.gs/zoe_

Perfect example of how 9 cyclists take up way less space than 9 cars! Imagine the road congestion, emissions, and noise if everyone here was driving instead of biking. Cities need more bike lanes to make this the norm, not the exception. 🚲💚🚲💚🚲💚🚲

A light, quick, cheap solution so good, it should be copied the world over: The fietsvlonder is a “bike platform” that temporarily swaps one car parking space for 10 bicycles. If deemed a success—as here in Eindhoven—the curb is adjusted and structure moved to the next location.
