Horrid start to the day; found this poor muntjac in Horatio’s field. I had to find someone with a gun. A dog owner (not to be seen) had allowed their pet to engage in the good innocent fun of chasing deer in our wood. Badly wounded; they hurt just like us. Very angry…

This mornings ringing resulted in 61 birds of 19 species. The highlights were this tawny owl, 6 kestrel chicks, a lapwing and 5 treecreeper.

Couple of CES visits resulted in 169 birds processed, including juvenile chiffchaff, willow warbler, blackcap and garden warbler. Broods of 3 and 1 buzzard were notable.
