Our campaign was seeded in Barnet where the Executive Director refused to engage with us or acknowledge the truth about why social care is failing people. This incredible letter by the brave striking social workers speaks truth 2 power. (((barnet_unison))) VOTE YES FOR STRIKE ACTION ✊️barnetunison.me.uk/wp/2023/11/16/…

Neil Crowther They definitely are symbiotic. They have to be if we are to get beyond past attempts to re-frame without the accompanying practice change. Social Care leaders must be honest about failings in order to achieve that symbiosis in a meaningful way. It can be done if there's a will 🙂

The key thing missing from his recommendations and critique is the elephant in the room that NOONE wants to talk about: the deeply embedded and (since the 2014 Care Act) unlawful culture in social care of resource determining what is recognised as need! theguardian.com/society/2024/f…

A great event today with a surprise appearance from John Evans, OBE @johnforrights. We also had the fantastic Campaign for Real Care, Fleur Perry and WinVisible (women with disabilities) on our panel. What a line up! Our takeaway from the meeting - we are all ready to fight for our rights. Watch out.

Excellent article. This is happening across the UK already. Bristol just exposed it via 'new' policy! The system nationally is resource led, perpetuated by councils unwilling to admit that they calibrate eligibility to fit budgets! Don't believe the standard rhetoric. It's lies.

📢NEW BLOG POST! 'Abolishing charges for non-residential care for working age people only would be both financially viable and politically feasible. It would also be unequivocally morally sound.' #CareCharging campaignrealcare.org/post/abolishin…
