While monitoring the pod in the area of Division/Mason, Officers observed a subject exit a vehicle with the handle of a firearm protruding from the subjects waistband area. 1563A & 1563C officers conducted a street stop & the subject was found in possession of an illegal firearm.

1563B attempted to conduct a street stop on a subject. Subject fled and was pursued on foot by the officers and at this time offender was observed throwing a small .22 cal revolver to the ground.  The loaded firearm was recovered and offender was placed into custody.

Earlier today, we lost one of our own. An on-duty police officer was fatally shot while responding to a person with a gun call. Please pray for this officer’s family, loved ones, partner and all of our Chicago Police officers who are grieving this tremendous loss.
