“We could have jumped out, arrested you, dragged you off in a van.” theguardian.com/world/2025/jul… Kafka? Arendt? Why are they so relevant now in 2025 Britain?

I haven't read this book, but the authors (Grant & Di Tanna) know their stuff, and they provide code for every script/engine. Meta- and mega-analysis one of those places where Bayes is natural and often easier than non-Bayes.

tl;dr: Today, the erosion of the graduate employment premium appears to be an especially acute concern for men. But policymakers would be wise to consider the implications of this pattern playing out more broadly. My article in full: ft.com/content/a9eadb…

I’m not confident that the ‘genocide’ label matters, conditional on killing civilians. The idea that killing ‘a people’ is worse than killing ‘people’ is strange; there are other reasons just as cruel. Killing children is wrong, UK foreign policy should be opposed to it.

Any and all benefit of the doubt for apologists for war crimes over the last 20+ months must be well and truly spent. This is what this has all been leading up to; this is what was forewarned, what could have been stopped.

It should never have come to this. My London Review of Books Blog piece on the terrifying wave of hunger convulsing Gaza. Govts can’t keep buying Israel time to pursue more catastrophic policies. Open the gates. End the war. lrb.co.uk/blog/2025/july…

Anyone still talking about ‘the hostages’, horrible as their situation is, hasn’t a shred of self awareness regarding their stinking anti-Arab racism. Equivalent numbers are shot dead each day, and now we’re watching children starve. For what.

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. It sounds inconceivable. But it’s the truth. Israel is taking deliberate, coordinated action to destroy the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Explicit statements by Israeli officials, combined with a consistent policy of destructive attacks

In today's article, learn how a chance discussion with the chair of Harvard’s statistics department changed everything about how I think about learning statistics.

Seems from Zarah Sultana MP to Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the Left is waking up to Roger Stone’s "attack, attack, attack—never defend" approach to public relations, for better or worse.

I’ve successfully prosecuted 1000s of rapists There are 35m+ “unvetted” men in UK This is a sexist/misogynistic culture 1/4 of women are raped/abused Millions of UK men rape/abuse women & girls If you’re ONLY talking about the minority that are black/brown, then you’re a racist
