My research focuses on the production of ammonium sulphate fertilizers which are produced from the nutrients in wastewater. This would eliminate excess phosphorous entering our waterways and allow for more regulated nitrogen quantities being applied to our land reducing pollution

Great to hear my co-supervisor Dr Jenny Lawler discussing the importance of water research in a global health crisis from her new position in QEERI, Qatar. Interesting to see the differences in the attitude towards water & how it’s treated in in a country which lacks fresh water.

Some good news while away from DCU during lockdown - our work from the EXEMPLAR project was published in IJMS MDPI. The project shows the use of hydrophobic membranes to remove ammonia from wastewater at pilot scale and produce a fertiliser product mdpi.com/1422-0067/21/1…

Dublin City University have yet to restore out-of-hours access to research laboratories. This is causing unnecessary stress for postgraduate students. We are petitioning for this to change - chng.it/YCsvXwLX DCU Students' Union DCU School of Biotechnology DCU Science and Health
