PA House Democrats passed HB 1219 last night, a budget code bill. What's inside? The 2% sales tax funding increase for public transit we've been fighting for!! PA Senate Democratic Caucus PA Senate Republicans let's make it happen for the Commonwealth đź’Ş

⚡️ it's electric ⚡️ Did you know: riding Amtrak on the Northeast Corridor can reduce a passenger’s greenhouse gas emissions up to 83% compared to driving!

What an absolute slap in the face to Philadelphians who often take their lives in their own hands just crossing the street, who have been injured or killed — and the hundreds of family members left behind to mourn traffic deaths that rarely get solved. inquirer.com/transportation…

We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us to seize this political moment. Let’s put labor at the helm to create Pennsylvania’s future: with green energy projects, 21st century schools, housing that’s built to last, reliable mass transit, and much more! 🌞👷🌱

Philadelphia demonstrates that nothing cities do to make streets look charming (e.g. design guidelines, zoning mandates, discretionary approval by review boards) will ever be as effective as simply prohibiting on-street parking.

Transit is a literal silver bullet. How many of you actually knew that the MTA moves more people everyday than fly domestically in the US. Even SEPTA moves ~700k people a day which is more than the population of Wyoming and about the same as Vermont!

Transit got screwed statewide. The final State Budget provides a one-time boost of $80.5 million to transit agencies. Our policymakers failed us in Harrisburg. spotlightpa.org/news/2024/07/p…

Pa. budget deal leaves transit agencies short. SEPTA may have to cut services if there is no more money in the fall. The Philadelphia Inquirer inquirer.com/transportation… via @phillyinquirer

Without mass transit funding for SEPTA in PA's budget, our business community is left wondering how we’ll keep our Commonwealth moving. Read our full statement here: chamberphl.com/2024/07/statem…

Philly really needs more political leadership that: • Understands and loves the city for its strengths • Prioritizes good governance and ethics • Respects research and best practices • Proudly lives like a normal person (takes SEPTA, walks around, eats local, etc.)

It's very frustrating that Governor Josh Shapiro is letting significant harm come to SEPTA, which is crucial to Philly. Meanwhile his administration is happily spending billions to plow I-95 through South Philly neighborhoods. Philly deserves leaders that don't sacrifice it.

Philadelphia, New York, Boston, etc all have most of their bones that would allow them to be excellent urban environments that would be the envy of many in the world, but it won’t ever happen if we continue to subsidize private cars over public transit fastcompany.com/91166562/us-tr…

Rep. Ben Waxman (@repbenwaxman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It is extremely irresponsible that the PA Senate Republicans decided to leave Harrisburg without a discussion about public transit funding. They have the power to save our transit systems, and they are failing our communities. cityandstatepa.com/policy/2024/10…

asking an earnest question here: if you were lucky enough to have parents that were helpful during your worst, most brutal teenage heartbreak- what did they say or do that was helpful? And, if not your parents- what was something ( other than time) that felt like it helped?

.Governor Josh Shapiro on SEPTA "Mass transit is important to the Commonwealth. My funding proposal was passed 3 times by state House. The state Senate refused to take it up. I think the Senate needs to get serious about this. I will not let SEPTA fail."
