Saddened by death of Len Syme. In 1989, I took his UC Berkeley course & mentioned I'd been asked to lead 1990 Int'l AIDS Conf. He said, "Take good notes; you'll want to write about it." That led to my 1st book, The Fragile Coalition. Len was a true giant. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
