While at UW–Madison, biochemist Har Gobind Khorana helped crack the genetic code, experiments that garnered him a The Nobel Prize in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he synthesized the first artificial gene. The Khorana Scholar Exchange Program helps further Khorana's legacy.
