Reminders to combat PM imposter syndrome: -Established approaches don't work universally. Your way is not necessarily wrong. -Everyone is figuring it out as they go to some extent. -Thought leaders were once beginners. PM's at all stages in the journey can add value. #prodmgmt

Many PMs are offended when referred to as project managers. Project management shouldn't be the most important part of the gig, but there's nothing wrong with PMs helping the team with organization and structure where needed, especially if that's a personal strength. #prodmgmt

Spent my entire weekend figuring out the BEST UX leaders and great Product Designers to follow on Twitter. But I want to you to save at-least 5 hours. So, here's a list of 10 Design Leaders to follow (+ with a link to my favourite tweet of theirs)👇 🧵 (1/12)

If we can agree that simplicity is often a valuable UX principle, it feels like teams should consider retiring more features that are not well-adopted and may be creating a more cluttered and confusing experience. #prodmgmt

Totally agree. Humility allows PMs to understand that the first solution will likely need to be iterated upon and that critical insights may come from a variety of internal and/or external places. Also, it would be difficult to be empathetic without humility. #prodmgmt

To reduce bias in feedback collection, we should probably avoid highlighting certain options. The design below may lead results to skew overly positive. #prodmgmt

Highly relevant as B2B startups move upstream and focus on larger enterprises (with larger revenue opportunities). Buyer and user will increasingly be different personas.

Why do companies with major resources & distribution make products that are mediocre & often fail to reach their potential? There are a handful of reasons, many of which you already know. But there is one under-discussed reason: Operators Optimizing for Optics Thread:

"I've trained dozens of teams who are using SAFe, and I have never seen it work well." -The Build Trap Melissa Perri Many get this intuitively but nice to see from someone with such breadth of experience. Frameworks are only as useful as they are adaptable and applicable. #prodmgmt

PM mindset traits for long term success: 1. Curiosity - to unravel the problem and root causes 2. Empathy - to care about delivering great outcomes 3. Ingenuity - to clear inevitable road blocks Hon. Mention: Humility - to resonate with all stakeholders Thoughts? #prodmgmt

Indicator of healthy product and company dynamics in this JD. The product pod is responsible for an outcome and owns end to end discovery and delivery to generate the outcome.

“Minimize cognitive load” resonates with me as a design principle. When in doubt, simplicity and intuitiveness win. #prodmgmt

Even if each has some of their own kpi’s, they should all have ownership/accountability of the business outcome. Each should have user empathy - one way to achieve this is to work discovery jointly rather than in a siloed fashion. Easier said than done with competing priorities.

Great book for those interested in PM best practices… bummer that you were not offered a chance to narrate the audio version and have such limited control overall. Look forward to hearing about your self publish journey for the next one.

BREAKING: US job growth exceeded expectations last month, the unemployment rate fell and wage gains slowed more than anticipated. More details here: trib.al/Q5MxVjQ

Well stated, Wolfgang. Seems like most PM’s agree with this sentiment conceptually but often end up not doing it in practice as they try to manage many moving pieces. Involving design (and eng) early significantly increases probability of adoption/success.
