As an update on what’s happening here, VCG announced a third round of VS much larger than the previous ones. They’re looking at making 5% savings on staff costs before end of academic year and this is not the end. Approximately 150 people need to go in next few months

her whole family was killed in front of her. then she called for help, and the people who came to help her were killed, and so was she. for what? what was six year old hind’s crime? wanting to live? thinking she could be saved?

Crushing! 12 days ago, Hind (6) called the emergency line & begged for her life while she was stuck in a car surrounded by Israeli tanks & soldiers that slaughtered her entire family

Today her decomposing body was found as well as the bodies of paramedics who tried to rescue her

If universities are just going to close depts all over the place (they are), there's no point running exercises like the Research Excellence Framework, cos those unis will just pocket the money and it won't go to the subjects it was supposed to. A massive waste.

(just in October) that the university was in strong financial health with a rosy future ahead. In other words, yes, we are in a challenging, post-92, sector-wide environment, but the ‘external factors’ that university management keeps pointing to were not only foreseeable,

this is utter desecration. working in the arts & humanities right now is terrifying. constantly waiting for one’s subject to be ripped from the university. if you are not screaming about this at every opportunity & unionising, then wtf are you doing.
