Oxford Brookes UCU 16°C is really not fit for a working environment. Even when Bavaria capped heating in public buildings after energy prices went up in 2022, they limited them at 19°C, not 16.

Good to see Oxford Brookes UCU keeping what's going on in the public eye. I was just thinking that things have gone rather quiet about job losses now only TWO of us are being made compulsorily redundant, but there are surely a lot more redundancies to follow...

As an update on what’s happening here, VCG announced a third round of VS much larger than the previous ones. They’re looking at making 5% savings on staff costs before end of academic year and this is not the end. Approximately 150 people need to go in next few months

Today we launch our broader campaign on working conditions at Oxford Brookes University #SAVEOURBROOKES in light of the impact of job losses through VS and CR & financial disaster we’re in. We begin with a survey part of the ‘Save our Research’ campaign. Check your inboxes and fill it in!

We found out today that the university has cut heating down to 16*C as a non-pay saving measure - truly NO ONE and NOTHING is SAFE from the cuts! Students and staff are wearing coats and hats in classrooms and offices. Meanwhile, the VC’s office is apparently blocked at 22…

Staff are already chronically overworked. Cutting into research time is bad for staff and bad for academic standards.
