Happy ! Mrs. Ford planted a tree on the North Lawn of the White House to honor the American Bicentennial on Oct. 20, 1975. The seedling was specially cultivated from an American Elm planted by Pres. Adams, which was the oldest and tallest tree on the White House grounds.

Itā€™s the perfect season to stroll through the usbotanicgarden. The First Ladies played a vital role in creating the garden we cherish today. Here, some of them are seated together at a 1994 gala in their honor. catalog.archives.gov/id/183373942 National Mall NPS

The look of the guitar has evolved over the years! Here we have an 1831 patent drawing of a very tall guitar from E. N. Sherr. Note that the original drawing for this patent was destroyed by a fire in the Patent Office in 1836.

It's ! We share this memory from 1932, with First Lady Lou Henry Hoover and President Herbert Hoover planting a cedar tree on the White House grounds. The tree was from 'Ferry Farm' in Fredericksburg, VA, across the river where George Washington spent his boyhood days!
