Humza Yousaf was a new kind of woke politician, mixing ethno-nationalism with radical progressive ideology - a particularly toxic grievance-mongering brew. Let's hope his spectacular fall from grace serves as a warning to others not to go anywhere near this lethal cocktail again.

The anatomy of our state strangulation

“The British state is failing. So let’s reduce public sector numbers and regulations back to 2020 levels and set a medium term goal of turning the bureaucratic clock back to the Millennium”, writes Ewen Stewart

Indeed.
Have Labour yet admitted the VAT effect on specialist arts schools – ballet, theatre, music, cathedral choir? If parents can't afford the VAT, are arts-gifted children just leaving? Are cathedral school choirs just closing? And what about low-fee schools like IGS Durham?

Humza Yousaf hasn't gone, he's only announced he's going; it shouldn't be for him to determine the process. Without a vacancy the 28-day period to form a new Scot Gov hasn't yet started. The VoNC in the Scot Gov should go ahead to provide the earliest opportunity for an election.

ps. this is silly way of looking at things, but if you regard higher revenues from customs duties as a ' bonanza' then the UK is the real winner here.

(we now keep all of the revenue from tariffs on third countries, whereas previously we had to remit about 3/4 to the EU)

Let's face it, Humza Yousaf has, true to form, behaved rashly and without a thought-through plan. He reminds me of Sonny Corleone driving off raging, wanting to look the big boss by exacting revenge, only to bring about his own demise at the tollbooth...

This deserves some dissecting, as the degree of chutzpah going on here may well be missed by those who have not been following Mr Cole-Hamilton's behaviour closely in recent years. Long🧵just for all the evidence, but feel free to skip straight to the last tweet for the point.
