Pubs are not exempt from the Equality Act 2010. People who think that a publican can deny service to anyone for any reason are wrong. You can’t refuse service on the basis of a protected characteristic.

So, if I understand this right, Keir Starmer still pays for his Arsenal season ticket but Arsenal have given him somewhere secure to watch games from because that is the security advice. And this is somehow a disgrace. Hmmm.

I don’t understand what the scandal is meant to be here? Surely it’s perfectly reasonable for the most powerful person in a country to be in hospitality at stadiums?

Forget the 170k salary, and its relative weight vis a vis other top civil servants, from day one the single aim of the Tory press and punditocracy was to remove Sue Gray from her powerful job in Downing st and thereby undermine Kier Starmer. The rest is history The Rest Is Politics

People are quick to forget our PM cancelled his family holiday this summer to deal with the riots. Which he did a fantastic job on. Let him enjoy the football with his lad ffs.

I don’t remember John Major watching cricket from the stands at Lords? No one questioned it, he was the PM. Common sense told us, it wouldn’t be possible and everyone deserves downtime and to carry on with their passions? The whole thing is utterly bonkers?!!

Despite all the precedents, it is incredible to watch media figures & outlets who were supremely comfortable with a Prime Minister breaking all manner of rules, regulations & conventions hysterically attacking a Prime Minister who has broken precisely none.

A reminder that Domestic Advisory Groups (DAG) (a feature of Free Trade Agreements), in case of TCA feed their input into the Civil Society Forum, held once a year. For more on the way the 🇬🇧-🇪🇺 is organised, see our UK in a Changing Europe Hussein Kassim explainer ukandeu.ac.uk/explainers/how…

All that has been ‘revealed’ is that Chris Mason is ignorant about how Whitehall works, and has done for decades. There are dozens, nay hundreds, of top civil servants who get paid about the same or more than the PM. He should know that and doesn’t. Or has sensationalised it.

TOP CIVIL SERVICE PAY it takes a few moments to find out how many civil servants are on salaries at the level of the PM and Ministers and above. Here’s the figures for 2023. Any so-called journalist ‘surprised’ the PMs Chief of Staff is on £170k is, er, incompetent?

Clement Attlee on the higher standards faced by Labour: “A Tory minister can sleep in ten different women's beds in a week. A Labour minister gets it in the neck if he looks at his neighbour's wife over the garden fence.”

Farage can’t hold constituency surgeries because of safety issues… But Starmer is supposed to sit in the stands alongside a crowd of football fans Got it.

Keir Starmer gives his Chief of Staff a pay rise… The Times leads with it. Boris Johnson tries to hire his girlfriend as his Chief of Staff… The Times speaks with Johnson’s team and then pulls the story. Pathetic.
