LIfe update! Found out illness was actually pregnancy and I was struck down with hyperemesis again. Fast forward to April when I decided the best thing for myself and my family was to start my maternity leave and focus on enjoying my children. I am now a SAHM until June 2024!

Day 55. Sometimes you just have to admit that your body needs a rest. Struggled into work today but by 10am it was clear I should have been in bed resting. But sure how I'm going to manage a flight with a toddler by myself tomorrow but somehow I just need to get it done. #VPbyday

Day 54. Excited to be working on the Dress Code Task Force working with the empowerment cycle to find a dress code that unifies or Community regardless of role. Some great conversations and discussions as we bring in a diverse of perspectives. #VPbyday #dresscode #community

Day 53. Our first attempt at Student Involved Conferences today. It was really wonderful to see our students taking ownership of their learning and leading their conferences with confidence, humility and evidence of deep self-reflection. Good job secondary! #VPbyday #conferences

Day 52. Do you ever have those days when everything disappoints you? When it seems like everything you have been fighting for, moving towards and trying to grow falls to the ground in a flaming heap? The best cure? Go home and play with your toddler. Try again tomorrow. #VPbyday

Day 51. Brilliant new initiative by the wonderful librarians of IICS. Today was the first session of the toddler reading session. My daughter was spellbound by the interactive version of The Hungry Caterpillar. Can't wait until the next one! #VPbyday #libraries #toddlerlife

Amazing final day at the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools #FLC2022 . Highlights were the fabulous Nadine from International Schools Services (ISS) speaking about diversity by design in recruitment. Dr. Phil Echols also bringing it with teachers as facilitators. Day 49. Despite only 3 hours of sleep the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools #flc2022 the conference has been thought provoking and a great opportunity to make connections. Highlight of the day so far has been the erudite Dr. Derrick Gay unpacking the true meaning of being a diverse school. #VPbyday

Day 48. On my way to the NESA Leadership Conference in Abu Dhabi. My reading material for the flight is Danau Tanu fabulous book Growing Up in Transit. Our backgrounds are so similar in so many ways that I keep shouting out YES to the horror of the other passengers. #VPbyday

Day 47. Making big changes in any institution seems to trigger anxiety, pessimism and concern instead of excitement and appreciation that the status quo is evolving. How do you manage change as a concept when humans are naturally cautious about it? #VPbyday #changemanagement

Day 46. Do you ever have those days where you sit down to get work done, procrastinate and suddenly it's time to go home and you have absolutely nothing to show for your day? The most effective thing I've done today is resisting the pasta for lunch and eating salad. #VPbyday

Day 42. Although I'm happily married I never see my husband. I'm at school all day and when I get home I take over childcare ad his workday is in full swing. So we try to escape for dinner once every 4 weeks. I value this time as it reminds me that I used to be fun once. #VPbyday

Day 41. Changed my maths pedagogical approach to lead with investigations to get students excited in finding patterns in numbers. They told me today they would rather copy off the board and then do a worksheet. What am I doing wrong? #VPbyday #middleschoolmaths #mypmaths

Day 40. There is nothing quite like the relief and subsequent crashing exhaustion a teacher feels when a school trip is ended and everyone is safely delivered home. Time to shower, reward myself with gozleme for dinner and then sleep for 17 hours. #VPbyday #classtrips #gozleme

Day 39. Today we started the day with a bike ride, then students worked on their service and creativity projects until lunch. After lunch I had almost 3.5 hours of hiking around Buyukada's historical sites until dinner. What an incredible day! #VPbyday #Buyukada #CAS #classtrip
