🥲 Waiting (stressing) for your baby boy (teenager) to come out of ( very minor) surgery is horrible. I needed a distraction and found #Medea by Rosie Hewlett, a re-telling of a Greek myth written with the depth and emotion of a modern story. (My baby boy is recovering well!)💜

1/3💜✍️ Happy hello #Writers! Here are a few important things to remember as you make a start on your 2nd draft: 1. You are NOT a terrible writer. Your 1st draft might be though. You wrote that from your heart and gut. Now you’re going to edit with your brain and talent.

2/3💜✍️ This second draft is not your final draft. You’re here to clean up the messy work you did before, to find a sense of structure in the story – NOT the actual story itself because you are still developing it!

3/3💜✍️ Allow yourself the freedom to develop or drop plotlines and characters in the same carefree spirit you created them, but put them away in a separate file. That way they aren’t gone in case you need them for your 3rd draft! #writinginspiration #writerscommunity

Rejection sucks but it doesn’t have to hold you back! After reading that nasty review or an editor’s harsh notes, try this: 1. Accept that you’re hurting. 2. Allow the hurt to make you make angry. 3. Let the anger lead you back to acceptance.
