So radicalised online culture war bullshit doesn’t seem to cut it at the ballot box

Who knew!

Certainly not most of the British media …

If I were rich I'd buy a place in London as it looks set to get even more spoiled than usual over the coming years.

1pm BBC news still reporting “evidence that London closer than expected” despite literally zero evidence - now or at any point over past 24hrs

I remember the anti-war vote had a big impact at the 2003 Scottish Parliament election. The Greens and the Scottish Socialist Party did well.

What I can’t remember is sneering know it all types proclaiming voters were stupid for being motivated by foreign policy as we see today.

wish I could tweet something clever about the locals but sadly my only thought is that whenever I read about North Yorkshire my brain wants to shorten it to 'Norkshire'

Labour are winning well where we need to win.

But we are being sent a message about Gaza and must listen, understand, and act.

Birmingham Labour source calling West Midlands mayoralty for Andy Street. “We have beaten him as a general rule, but the Muslim vote has collapsed to the Galloway-backed independent.”

I always think it's a massive conflict of interest to have the same person commissioning both policing and crime

In 2020, John Swinney signed off an assessment process which reduced the grades of poorer pupils, simply because they were poor.

The poorest schools had double the downgrades compared with the most affluant, and X4 as many compared with private schools.

It'd be pretty stupid for Forbes to stand now. If she runs and loses, she's a serial loser. If she wins, she can't govern and takes charge of a party in obvious electoral decline. If she waits two years, she gets a renewal project with the benefit of low expectations.

The Kate Forbes debate is being made out to be far more complicated than it is. Some people think it's ok to have a homophobic first minister who has said on the record they would have voted against equal marriage given the chance, and some don't.

As we’re now seemingly going to do the “but can a Christian be First Minister” bit again, here’s one I made earlier.

Valid criticism of Kate Forbes was never and still isn’t about ‘Christian faith’ - it’s about her specific views that mean to her, LGBT people are deemed lesser.
