It'd be pretty stupid for Forbes to stand now. If she runs and loses, she's a serial loser. If she wins, she can't govern and takes charge of a party in obvious electoral decline. If she waits two years, she gets a renewal project with the benefit of low expectations.

The Kate Forbes debate is being made out to be far more complicated than it is. Some people think it's ok to have a homophobic first minister who has said on the record they would have voted against equal marriage given the chance, and some don't.
