It’s always rewarding to find the target species during a survey — and in this case, signs of hazel dormice on site confirm suitable habitat and the presence of this protected species. All survey work and handling is carried out under the appropriate licence. #dormouse #ecology

I spotted fledgling Spotted Flycatchers on site this week — a sign that breeding has been successful this season! These charming little birds are red-listed in the UK, so it’s a real privilege to see them thriving here.

The kids were thrilled to spot this chunky Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar on our walk today! 🐛🌿 Soon it’ll transform into a stunning pink-and-green moth — nature’s own magic trick. ✨

🦅 The Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) shows incredible colour variation — from pale cream to dark chocolate brown. This one was spotted enjoying a mole, highlighting its role as an important predator of small mammals. #Buzzard #ButeoButeo #BirdsofPrey

Was out onsite today keeping an eye on high tide bird disturbances… when out of nowhere, this little weasel appeared!

Glossy ibis numbers are rising in Britain — proof that nature adapts, but also a reminder of our changing climate. 🌍🪶 #Wildlife #GlossyIbis #riverexe #riversidecountrypark Devon Wildlife Trust

Rare glimpse of a secretive Cetti’s Warbler – usually just a burst of song from the undergrowth, but today it showed itself. 🐦✨ #Birding #CettisWarbler #Wildlife

A beautiful surprise today — a juvenile hobby landed right in front of me, offering an incredible close view. Moments like this are a reminder of how special it is to share space with nature. #hobby #birdsofprey

Caught these black-headed gulls in mid-air battling over a little rodent — total chaos but so cool to see! Nature’s drama never disappoints.

Meet the Goldcrest Britain’s smallest bird ! Barely bigger than a ping-pong ball, a goldcrest measures just 8–9 cm long and weighs less than 7 grams (about the weight of a 20p). Despite their tiny size, they’re full of energy, flitting constantly through trees and shrubs .

This sparrowhawk landed for a few seconds during its hunt. They often pause briefly to scan their surroundings before launching a rapid, low-level pursuit.Short wings and a long tail are perfectly adapted for quick acceleration and precise maneuvering through urban/rural habitats.
