This is the exact reason why adult adoptees get shouted down so loudly. The simple assertion that we are people separate from the identities assigned to us sheds a light on the lies. One of the most harmful things that's done to us is the lifelong gaslighting.

Adoption supposedly gives the child a ‘better’ life but a life without your mother is not ‘better.’ Ask anyone that’s lost their mother. Why are adoptees asked to be grateful for something everyone else recognizes as pain and trauma. #adoption #mothersday

I've been telling X for years that I don't like the ads. Every time, it promises to make my experience better. If I keep seeing the same ads, the only conclusion I can reach is that it's a lie.

I know people who need to see and hear this message to help them believe that there are others who acknowledge their experience.

Dance like no one is watching. Most people really aren't and won't remember, but there's a quiet 8-year-old in the corner who's watching all of it and needs to see someone dance.
