Both 6th grade Choirs had the chance to sing for the residents at Spurgeon Manor yesterday and today. We were honored to have them sing for us, too!! We love partnering with the community in Dallas Center to spread the joy of music to all!!

Our 6th grade select band, the Spirit Stampede, are heading to Spurgeon Manor to play for their residents this morning! Have fun!!

6th Grade General Music students have been celebrating their last Music class of 2024 with Holiday/Winter Karaoke!! We’ve had an absolute blast singing at the top of our lungs! Shout out to Mrs. Davison, Mrs. Nielsen, Mrs. Hudson, and Mr. Lachacz for joining their students!

Sawyer F. was our big winner of the 2024 Mrs. Augustine’s Face Showdown!! She received the most votes (53) across all of our DCG MS Music platforms! Congratulations Sawyer!

Narrowing down 243 applications to 20 was a really challenging endeavor but I am confident these students will shine! Congratulations to the accepted students who will attend the South Central Iowa Choral Directors Association’s 5th and 6th Grade Honor Choirs! #dcgexcellence

This is Mrs. Kellner’s 5th grade class practicing for their solfège sight reading and singing assessment! It’s so wonderful seeing students practice speaking the rhythm, speaking the solfège, signing the hand signs, and singing the sight reading exercise. Bravo, students!

6th Grade General Music students have been studying our Nation's Anthem during this unit in General Music. They've narrowed down their winner... and they are....!

Mrs. Peters 5th Grade Class rocked at Solfège Bingo today! I love how each student had their own way of determining which syllables were written and sang or signed them to be sure! Bravo!!

Check out Ms. Gurnsey’s 5th grade class absolutely rocking their C Major, F Major, and A Minor chords on the Ukulele! They’ve been working hard for the last 5 classes and are getting better every day! #ukecandoit #dcgexcellence

Congrats to Mrs. Grant’s 5th Grade and Mrs. Nielsen’s 6th Grade Homerooms! These classes won the grade level Forbidden Pattern competition! They celebrated their big win with Korner Kone treats and a Snack & Technology Day - well earned and well enjoyed! Bravo!!

We had a fabulous week during the first and second Opus Audition Workshops! All of these incredible 6th grade students learned, perfected, and recorded their Opus auditions! We celebrated with some games, popsicles, and even a couple of original plays today!! Bravo!! ❤️🥹🎶

We absolutely loved seeing so many of you at Open House tonight! We know with the long lines we weren’t able to meet everyone and for that, we apologize. The great news is that we’ll all be together on Monday! Enjoy the last few days of summer! -Mrs. Augustine and Mrs. Royer

Four weeks of the school year complete. Here’s a glimpse into the last few weeks! Lots of progress. Lots of music making. Lots of buckets!

Over 3,000 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions over four Opus Honors Choirs. We are so proud of these seven students and can’t wait to share more about their experience!!

These seven DCG MS 6th grade students are off to the ICDA Opus Honor Choir at ISU! They will spend the day rehearsing with the other accepted students in the 5/6 Opus Choir and close the day performing at 4pm today!
