Don’t undo with your mouth what God has started in your heart.

When tragedy like #MontereyPark strikes, people reach out to me directly for my responses. I don’t have any formulated answers. It just hurts. I grieve. I’m angry. And through it all, I’m praying for all involved. As we pray, may we find the courage to keep fighting for change.

Convoy of Hope is responding in communities in southern #Georgia that were impacted by severe weather. 🧡 Over 200 families were impacted by a #tornado, leaving their homes damaged and many without power. Convoy is providing essential resources and food for them.

I read this perfect quote today. It made me wonder about what adjectives describe “that wonderful state” that makes ministry possible. What if the object was never to do ministry? But to be so full of peace, compassion, and kindness that ministry becomes the inevitable outcome.

Jesus loves us, this we know, for the Bible tells us so.

Great reminder:

We don't need to rebrand Christianity, we need to follow Jesus and let the branding take care of itself.

Is it possible that many of us trust the written word (Scriptures) which were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God more than we trust the Spirit of God who authored those Scriptures? Has Scripture replaced God for some of us?

Apologize often. Praise publicly. Critique privately.

I'm a big advocate for preaching teams because the lead pastor needs to sit under the proclaimed word of God just like everyone else.

Two images that come together for Christians on Sunday: We are Exiles: the experience of often being socially and culturally diminished in this world. We are the Temple: the experience of being the place of the concentrated power and presence of God.

The need to critique everything because it doesn't align with your emphasis, theology or perspective is a sign of immaturity. I cannot make the boundaries of my opinion the boundaries of the kingdom.
