I used to defend Shildt, say he was a good manager. Fact is, if it was 25-30 years earlier he’d be considered a really good manager, he knows that his strategy will win against 2/3 of the league. If only it wasn’t that the other 1/3 is who you face in the playoffs.

All these questionable/dumb moves with pitching, all are started because this team sucks offensively. Have all year, just putting band aids on the holes in the boat.

I’ve enjoyed the padres with AJ as GM, I also hope that this was the last game with him. This needs an overhaul and none of the things that must happen will with him here.

For those continually talking about padres 90 wins, here’s some context: they were 28-11 against the NL west teams that were .500 or worse. Their pitching held up against bad teams. Their offense did just enough against bad teams.

Pat Murphy is a good manager, too bad AJ never had a shot at him.

I like bat flips, pimp jobs, pitchers staring down hitters. But for the love of god, please ban the after base hit wave, or butt shake, or any other embarrassing move that every team does.

If AJ survives this and gets to hire another manager, might as well give him a lifetime contract and ownership stake. Also, enjoy being trophy free, but winning trade deadlines.

The fact that people believe that the padres would be making a catastrophic mistake by replacing a guy who no one wants to work with, and hasn’t won anything in 10 years, is just astounding.

Absolutely shocked that people are shocked about this, that non invested business people are now going to make a business decision. It was one man’s labor of love, it’s a money pit to the rest of them. Blame MLB and MLBPA for bad economics with bad tv deals and no floor or cap.

Too many people on Padres twitter, including some “insiders”, form their opinions and attached “sources” to hunches based on hopes, feelings, rainbows, and sunshine, instead of cold, hard reality.

Instead of getting all geeked out about the sale price, I would be more stoked about less sale price, but a promise to add payroll. Victory laps for some detached billionaires making 4 more billion is wild. Hang a banner “largest sale price in mlb history”!
