A.3 - I've seen great success in the sports industry when the leagues (e.g. NFL, MLB, etc) engage learners of all ages to innovate. (e.g. NFL's Big Data Bowl). #SASChat #SASBattingLab

A. 4 I loved the concept (for obvious reasons). Although this effort has an attachment to sports, I truly believe it shows that when kids are fully engaged and interested in the topic/theme, they will have the greatest chance for retention, learning, and success. #SASChat

A.5 Robots! If you remember SAS / SAS CodeSnaps ran a program to teach young students about coding, product and project management skills to kids. It shows another example of how kids engage when they are interested in something. #SASChat sas.com/en_sa/news/pre…

A.5 Retail. I see a SAS Lemonade stand data literacy effort in the future :) Inventory, Price Optimization, Supply/Demand, and predictive analytics rolled into one! #SASChat #SASBattingLab

A.6 - I think any sport can benefit from a data approach but would love to see soccer/football, golf, and cricket. #SASChat #SASBattingLab

It's sometimes tough for us to “see”, but the use of analytics has certainly impacted player performance and team optimization and we’re seeing a higher level of competition in many sports. And in some cases, athletes and teams “upsetting” the more dominant opponent. #saschat

Dan Axman (@daxman27) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And then there’s “other” type of excitement generated (depending on who you are a fan of), like in the Chicago Bears decision to go for a 4th, and 1 and ended up losing to the Denver Broncos because of it. In this case part analytics, part gut call by the coach. #saschat

In short, "off the pitch" refers to the use of data by #sports organizations to analyze the biz side of the data (e.g. fan engagement, ticket sales, etc.) "On the pitch" is specific to player and team performance, injury prevention and creating competitive advantages. #saschat

Great point FPL Green Grass about watching events that you might normally miss. It creates that additional engagement and "stickiness" and exposes fan's to several more teams and athletes that they may have not been fully engaged in. #saschat

I think we will see sports organizations continue to enhance personalized and more immersive fan experiences. Communicating with fans at the right time, with the right content, through the channels they use most. And this will happen before, during and after the events. #saschat
