1/7: Around this time last year, my son and I took a trip to our local library. I love the children’s books, and he loves the Lego and tinker tables... #ImBuildingAJail

2/7: More importantly, he loves when I get down on my knees and build things with him - especially if we have the place to ourselves... #ImBuildingAJail

3/7: On this particular day, however, Deuce and I weren’t alone. There was another young boy playing as well. He was with his grandfather. This little guy was hard at work building what appeared to be a school... #ImBuildingAJail

4/7: As he put the finishing touches on his masterpiece, I turned to him and asked: “Hey little man, what are you making?” His response broke my heart. He passionately, and reluctantly, said: “I’m building a jail.” I was stunned, and had no idea how to respond... #ImBuildingAJail

5/7: Shortly thereafter, following a conversation with his grandfather, I realized why he was building a jail. Why? Because that’s where his father is. He was building a jail with Legos because that made him feel closer to his dad. Heartbreaking… #ImBuildingAJail

6/7: I think about that little boy often, especially when my son and I go to the library. I also think about his father, and the fact that he can’t enjoy time with his son in the simple ways that I can with Deuce… #ImBuildingAJail

7/7: Please say a prayer for this little boy, and his father. Also, please say a prayer for others near and far who are not as excited about the holiday’s as we are...for one reason or another. #ImBuildingAJail drm
