Making these NFTs has been an occasion to re-live 40-some years of work. It's a re-mix in digital terms.  Party of Animals

Part 16: Together, they made each artwork into a unique NFT. Collectors could buy these windows, each with its own character, and place them in a building. The collectors could become developers too…

The idea of framing the art within the shape of a window, and then combining the windows to make a building that houses all these different characters came to me in a dream. It just felt right. It's a dream of urban life, its richness and variety.

The Party of Animals team came together organically; someone knew someone who knew someone, etc. As in any community.  I knew very little about it when I started - I just knew certain things I wanted to see. It's a rich and layered world!

Obviously the biggest difference is the absence of a physical object. NFT collecting automatically solves a problem which plagues many traditional collectors: storage.

We're just beginning to see how the changing nature of art collecting in the digital age will play out. There are many things in life that can be framed as a game. It's not a diminishment, but another way of activating and internalizing an experience. Party of Animals

The audience for art has expanded exponentially, and it will continue to do so. As the audience expands, changes will naturally occur. Anyway, it's not just one template for the relationship - there are many different models for this, some old, some new, and everyone's different.

It's different working with a group on the Party of Animals project versus being alone in the studio. The other people involved brought their own ideas to the project, and that has expanded my world-view.
