For context in NI, our Emergency Care data showed in September 2024 median length of stay in ED for admitted patients waiting a bed was 16hours 7mins. Have a think where 16hours might sit on that graph. That’s where we are in Northern Ireland. Royal College of Emergency Medicine

GPs have REJECTED the contract offer from @healhtdpt. 99.6% of them said it was not enough. We have written to the Minister requesting an urgent meeting.

So the NI population need to ask why young, intelligent, and motivated people would leave NI to work somewhere where their skills are valued? And then consider the statements made by our Minister Mike Nesbitt recently. Without doctors there is no health service. BMA Northern Ireland

Joint letter from Chairs of BMA Consultants & BMA SAS Doctors to Wes Streeting This pay award is inflammatory Consultant and SAS doctors in England are now in dispute We demand that DDRB members resign Additionally BMA rate cards are relaunching and industrial action looks likely

It seems a reasonable time to post these again. They seem somehow relevant as a reminder now that the government told the DDRB it was business as usual and they proceeded in exactly that way.

🧵 Three reasons why all Resident Doctors in England should vote YES in the IA ballot 👇🏻 1) Pay - your pay is still over 20% from #FullPayRestoration to 2008 real-terms levels - each and every year you are still left thousands of pounds worse off than those that came before you.

Wow, that’s a statement if ever there was one! Bearing in mind that GPs are a very heterogenous group, for our Minister to unify them all in such a manner is an astounding achievement. Ball now firmly in his court.
