Number 1 conference organising tip BY FAR: make the programme online only (e.g. Google Drive), & advise people not to print it. Saves you *enormous* time on tedious fiddly updates (& sending out updated versions). Also saves delegates confusion on the receiving end. Win win!

Especially nice when your academic article is quoted very soon after publication. Academic publishing is slooow and it's difficult to make late changes, so that person REALLY wanted to cite you - and went to some hassle to do it.

Top tip if former students/employees often ask you for references: ask them to draft it & send you for checking/signing. It's entirely honest, you can verify details. Still it saves you a lot of time, & allows them to emphasise specific details for each job/study place. Win win!
