Enjoy full” retirement, Bob. I’ll check in after a few months to see “how it’s going”. (Inside joke—one of many over the years). Joe Mansbreek (that’s another one) asked me to congratulate you on a great career. I said I would when we were “talking amongst ourselves”.

Just finishing an 18-hour July 1 jam: Lightfoot, The Hip, Blue Rodeo, Arkells, Joel Plaskett, Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, Ron Sexsmith, The Band, Neil Young, Sarah Harmer, Guess Who, Justin Rutledge, Basia Bulat, Allison Russell, etc. OH CANADA!!

Donald Trump was asked to comment on the excitement surrounding the engagement of Taylor and Travis and he promised to deploy the National Guard to suppress it.

Ken Dryden knew the game of hockey, played it, wrote and talked about it, and represented it as well as anyone. He stood tall in the goal crease, and taller in life.

The Ryder Cup MC riled up USA supporters by yelling “Fuck you, Rory” into her microphone and she “stepped down”? She wasn’t “removed”? And there are “extra” golfers on the 1st two days, but not on Sunday to ensure a full schedule of singles matches? Mind-boggling, no?

I will be a fan of the 1st broadcaster who decides not to try for a laugh with Cam Schlittler’s name. I expect a long wait.

Some baseball fans watched what they called a “playoff classic” in Seattle last night (and this morning). I watched two teams that can’t hit.

For too long, Blue Jays’ fans have waited to cheer for a team that plays baseball “the right way”. Not much to ask, but, funny thing, that can lead to a winning record, a playoff spot, a league pennant, and maybe even a World Series title. We’ll see. The wait has ended in 2025.

Much credit to the Blue Jays, of course, but it is interesting, and obvious, that the Dodgers have looked like a beaten team ever since Freddie Freeman hit his 18th-inning HR to win game 3.

You never want to go to a party and find you’re dressed the same as someone else, but if your Halloween costume is a Blue Jays’ cap and jersey, deal with it.

The best way to understand how riveting the World Series has been is to agree that a night without baseball will be therapeutic.

The true worth of a Blue Jays’ fan is one whose first World Series experience would come in a 7th game and hopes like hell the Jays win in 6.

The final World Series blow to crestfallen Blue Jays’ fans was Daylight Saving Time— an extra hour to deal with what happened, and the inability to sleep.

There is no cure for what haunts a Blue Jays’ fan who still plays over and over again the ways the result could have been different, and he/she is talking about the 18-inning game.

Neil Young has famously played Massey Hall. Last night, Massey Hall played Neil Young. Congratulations, Aaron Goldstein and so many others, for a show of epic proportions!

As long as the CFL features Canadian players in Canadian cities playing 3-down football, it is not being Americanized if there is no longer a 55-yard line or a single point for a missed FG. But the Grey Cup halftime act? Be as critical as you wish.

Everybody goes home happy, like kids with trophies just for participating. In other sports, if you don’t win, you actually lose. What a concept!
